How do I find resources for recording and editing audio and video?


This guide will go over the different options available to you for both recording and editing audio and video. For more information or support, reach out to Podcasting and Media Support.

 

Recording

Audio Production Room 2L

The Audio Production Room 2L is available for students to book through the library website. Students can book up to a week in advance, and can book up to 4 hours per day, 12 hours per week.


Portable Podcasting Kits

This kit has everything you need to record a podcast with up to four speakers. The kit comes in a rolling case with wheels, perfect for easy transport to any of the group or presentation rooms in the library. Book the Podcasting Kit online through the library website.


Loanable USB Mic + SquadCast

The loanable USB mic is an easy plug-and-play option for your laptop, available for loan at the Service Desk. Book the USB Mic online through the library website

Squadcast is a remote recording software, like Google Meet or Zoom, that records high-quality audio remotely from your computer. The software normally has a monthly fee, but you can access the free trial for your project.

 

 

Editing

Post Production Room 2M

The Post Production Room 2M is available for students to book through the library website. Students can book up to a week in advance, and can book up to 4 hours per day, 12 hours per week. 

The software available in the space includes: Adobe Audition, Audacity, GarageBand, Logic Pro X, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro.


Adobe Audition - Main Floor Computer Commons

Located on the main floor of the Library is the Computer Commons, where each computer has free student access to Adobe. Here, you can access Adobe Audition for editing your project.

Free Open Access Editing Software

There are many free open access software available to you for editing both video and audio. Here are some available options to start:

Audio Software

  • Reaper (Windows, Mac)

Video Software

  • iMovie (Mac only)
  • Clipchamp (Windows, Mac)
