The ebook I chose to include in my Reading List only allows a limited number of concurrent users - what should I do?

Faculty: The ebook I chose for my Reading List only allows a limited number of users. What should I do?

Some ebooks in the Library are purchased with single-user or limited-user licenses. This means only a certain number of students can access the ebook at the same time.

  • To check license information: select Full details on the item and look under View online. If you see “User access limits vary per title,” the license is not unlimited.
  • Students may be able to download chapters or the full ebook for later reading, which helps reduce wait times.
  • If concurrent access is a problem, please contact your Subject Librarian. We can discuss options such as:
    • Purchasing additional licenses or an unlimited license (if available).
    • Providing alternate editions or resources.
    • Adding print copies to Course Reserves.

For students: If you cannot open the ebook right away, try again later, or download chapters when available so you can read them offline without waiting.
