How do I use the Mendeley plug-in to create my citations in Word?

To install the Mendeley plug-in for Microsoft Word (called Mendeley Cite), open and login to Mendeley Reference Manager for desktop.

In the application’s top menu, under Tools click Install Mendeley Cite for Microsoft Word.

This will open your browser and take you to the Microsoft AppSource listing for Mendeley Cite. Click Get It Now and then sign-in to Microsoft 365 with your Mount Royal University credentials.

Mendeley Cite will now have been added into Word as an add-in under the References tab.

You can change the citation style being used by Mendeley Cite in Mendeley Cite’s Citation Settings.

Note: Unlike Zotero, you do not need to have Mendeley Reference Manager open at the same time to use Mendeley Cite in Word.
