Mount Royal’s Open Access Repository (MROAR) is MRU’s institutional repository. It preserves and shares research and other scholarly work created by the MRU community, including undergraduate Honours theses and other major student research projects.
What kinds of undergraduate work are included?
MROAR may include Honours theses and other major undergraduate research projects where appropriate. These works help showcase student research at MRU and make it accessible to a wider audience.
Why are undergraduate theses shared in the repository?
Depositing a thesis in MROAR can help preserve the work, make it easier for others to discover, and highlight student research at MRU. Repository items are openly available online so that other students, researchers, and community members can learn from the work.
Can I look at past undergraduate theses?
Yes. Past theses can help students see examples of how research topics are developed, how a thesis may be structured, and how findings are presented.
To find past MRU undergraduate theses in MROAR, select Collections, then Undergraduate Student Research. You can limit results to theses using the Genre filter on the left side.
Can I submit my own thesis or major project?
Students may be able to deposit an Honours thesis or other approved major research project. Deposits are usually coordinated with the repository team and may involve review of the submission and a repository agreement.
What should I consider before depositing?
- Repository content is openly available online.
- Make sure you have permission to include images or other copyrighted material.
- Consider whether the work contains sensitive or confidential information.
- If you plan to publish parts of the work later, discuss this with your supervisor first.
Many publishers do not treat a thesis in an institutional repository the same as formal publication, but policies vary.
