I have been asked to do a literature review by my faculty supervisor - how do I get started?

A literature review involves gathering existing research on a particular topic. It typically provides the background on what is known so far on an issue, and suggests areas for future research to fill in gaps.

You will find tips on how to conduct a literature review on our Undergraduate Research Guide. Before you get started, it is important to determine the scope of the review. Working through the questions on this literature review worksheet with your supervisor before starting your search may help. You can also contact your Subject Librarian for advice and assistance.
