How can I request a book (and what if its signed out)?

How can I request a book?

Current MRU students, faculty, and staff can request Library books through LibrarySearch.

  1. Go to LibrarySearch: From the Library website, click LibrarySearch on the top menu bar.
  2. Sign in: Use the Sign in link (top right) and select MyMRU login. Enter your MRU credentials.
  3. Search for your book: Enter the title, author, or keywords in the search box.
  4. Select the title: Click on the book you want to open its full record.
  5. Check availability: Under Item Details you’ll see if the book is available or signed out, and (if signed out) the due date.
  6. Place a request: In the Get It section, click Request: Place Hold.
  7. (Optional) Set a date: In Not needed after, choose a date if there’s a deadline by which you no longer need the book.
  8. (Optional) Check the queue: Use Calculate Queue to see your place in line. A “0” means no other requests are on the book.
  9. Submit: Click Send Request to complete your hold.

Note: If the book is already signed out, you will see the due date in Item Details. When you place a request, we will email you once the book is returned. This is usually within three weeks, depending on the borrower’s loan period.
