How can I request a book?

Current MRU students and employees can place requests for Library materials.

  • Click on the LibrarySearch menu option on the top menu bar on the Library website.
  • Click on the Sign in link on the top right of the page and select the MyMRU login option for MRU Students, faculty and staff.
  • Enter your MRU credentials. Once you have been authenticated, you will be returned to LibrarySearch.
  • Use the search box to search for the book that you need.
  • When you find the book you want, click on the title of the book and you will be directed to a page that displays the details of the item.
  • Once on the item details page, scroll down to the section under the heading Get It and click on the Request: Place hold link.
  • If there is a date after you no longer need the book, you can complete the Not needed after (optional) section by clicking the drop-down arrow beside 'Choose date' and selecting that date. The system will cancel your hold automatically if the book does not become available by that date.
  • If you wish, you can use the Calculate queue button to see where your hold will be on the request queue for the item. If your place in the queue is 0, then there are no other requests currently on the book.
  • Click the Send Request button to submit your hold request.

Please note that, for books currently on loan to someone else, the wait may be as long as 3 weeks.
