How do I request an item that the Library doesn't have? Where is the interlibrary loan (ILL form)?

Current students, faculty and staff can request items MRU doesn't own via our interlibrary loan (ILL) service.

If you don't find a result in LibrarySearch for an item you need, place a request directly using the Interlibrary Loan request form:

  • Follow the ellipsis [. . .] in the top menu bar of LibrarySearch and select 'Interlibrary loan request' from the choices offered.
  • Log in with your MRU credentials.
  • Select Article or Book chapter, if relevant, or Book, video, thesis for all other items.
  • Enter the citation details for your item, any request notes, and a 'cancel if not received by' date if applicable.
  • Agree to the terms of use by ticking the checkbox
  • Click submit.

For items with a result in LibrarySearch but no full-text option provided:

  • Click on the title to get to the detailed information screen for the item.
  • Look for the Get it menu on the detailed information screen. Log in to see additional options.
  • Choose "Request interlibrary loan"
  • Enter a 'cancel if not received by' date if applicable
  • Agree to the terms of use by ticking the checkbox.
  • Click Submit.

You can also place ILL requests when searching in many of the subject specific library databases, by following the 'Find full text' or 'Look for a copy' link, or using the direct method above.

ILL service is freely available to current Mount Royal University students, faculty, staff, and professors emeriti.

MRU Retirees can place requests via the ILL for Retirees page.
